Introduction

Hello and welcome to the personal and family finance course. I want to start by sharing a story that might sound familiar to many of you.

Some time ago, I reconnected with an old childhood friend. We had lost touch for several years, but when we saw each other again, we were so happy and spent time reminiscing about old times. We had been great friends, and reliving those moments was wonderful.

After chatting for a while, I asked him how he was doing. I noticed something in his expression that worried me—a mix of sadness and anxiety. I couldn't help but ask if everything was okay. That's when he, with a tired look, told me that he was going through a tough financial situation.

He explained that he was living a stressful life because he wasn't managing his money well. Even though he had a stable job, his money was never enough. This affected not only his finances but also his health and his ability to sleep well. Family arguments about money had increased, and his relationship with his partner was struggling. He had more debt than he could handle, using multiple credit cards and loans. He was living paycheck to paycheck, unable to save or have money for emergencies. He felt really frustrated and didn't see a way out.

I then asked him if he knew where all his money was going, and he admitted that he had no idea. He had never tracked his expenses or income, and he had never made a budget. That day, I suggested that he take this course to help him take control of his finances in a simple and practical way. We said our goodbyes and went our separate ways.

A year later, we met again, and this time his life was completely different. By following the advice and habits he learned here, he was able to get his life back on track and improve his financial situation and that of his family. His health improved, as did his relationship with his partner. My friend was a different person, and seeing him like that filled me with joy.

This is just one story among thousands of people who go through something similar. But most avoid talking about it out of embarrassment and don’t seek help.
